After months talking about things like the spread of a disease, the need for testing, and isolating from friends/family/teammates, we can finally talk about games.
The top tier of Uganda football prepares for its second round of the new season. In the previous matchday of the StarTimes Uganda Premier Legaue, newly promoted army side UPDF FC opened the season with a bang whilst last year’s second placed KCCA FC were also among the best performers from matchday one of the 2020/21 StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Sbk sports Mail’s Brian Sentuuya takes you through a quick preview of today’s televised matchday two game on Sanyuka TV pitting Kcca and Onduparaka in the 2020/21 StarTimes Uganda Premier Legaue season.
Kcca FC vs Onduparaka (8th December 2020, MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo)
The boys in blue and yellow from the capital city of the pearl of Africa opened their StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign for the 2020/21 season with a two-one victory on the road over Soltilo Bright Stars.
Mike Mutebi boasts a strong attacking squad and the addition of Brian Ahebwa has certainly brought a new flair. He was the creative genius and shone in his debut appearance.
There is also a similar case for KCCA’s midfield gun, Keziron Kizito as the former Vipers SC midfielder was a treat to watch, His exquisite passing abilities and presence in the heart of the midfield were enough to rip Soltilo Bright Stars’ defense.
The kasasiro boys will hope for the best as they take on the Caterpillars today at home in their second match day of the 2020-2021 season.
However, summer recruits Bright Anukani and Andrew Kawooya who tested positive for COVID-19 will be unavailable and will have to wait for their first start or appearance for Kcca in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League whilst John Revita, Sadat Anaku and Julius Poloto won’t be available to face the caterpillars as they are still nursing their respective injuries.
Midfielder Gift Ali who missed the league opener due to lack of fitness and in the same line Moses Aliro returns from injury and is part of the squad.
Four of the club’s starlets Kizza Bukenya Joseph, Steven Sserwadda, Musa Ramathan and Kafumbe Joseph who were part of the victorious Uganda Hippos squad in the just concluded Cecafa AFCON Zonal Qualifiers held in Tanzania, will miss out as they wait for the results of the covid tests they took on the penultimate day before this game.
On the other hand,Vialli Bainomugisha’s Onduparaka came into the new season full of optimism following their last season’s performance, but after an underwhelming performance here and a couple of transfer sagas there, things haven’t quite gone according to plan for the Westnile based outfit .
Onduparaka, without any real cohesion in the side that lacked leaders and a focal point up front, had a neck-to-neck encounter with Ten-man Express and eventually opened their account with only one point after a 1-1 draw at Greenlight stadium.
