The Uganda Netball Super League season continued over the weekend and four games were played out of the five scheduled matches of the weekend at Nakivubo Blue Primary School where another exciting matchday was experienced and as expected, there was an abundance of drama, thrills as well as the requisite shocks and disappointments.
Here is this weekend’s 🇺🇬Netball Super League roundup as Sbk Sports Mail’s Brian Sentuuya explains the highlights of the weekend action.

The first game of the day saw league debutants Ugx Luweero collect their first win of the season over a struggling and an equally winless Posta.
While Amos Lubwama’s coached side had gotten their debut campaign in the netball super league going with three consecutive defeats, the poor run of results had little to do with how well the league debutants have been playing and they turned their good process into results against Posta.
In the first quarter of the match , Ugx Luweero wasted no time to express their desire to register their first victory of the season and scored the first goal within the first minute before Posta equalised.
After the equaliser, the two teams continued pressing each other and the first quarter eventually ended 10-10 with neither side effectively utilising its chances; however, the encounter came as alive as a 0-0 match can in the second quarter.
Ugx Luweero’s coach Amos Lubwama brought on Ngabiroki Fortunate for the ineffective Diraya Nalubowa at the start of the second quarter and this proved to be the decisive moment of the match as her brilliant performance and combination with her shooting partner Asio Mary Devoter helped her side to overcome Posta in the second (16-05), third (18-07) and fourth quarter (20-3).

In the second game of the day and ultimate headliner of this weekend’s Netball Super league action, NIC continued its incredible unbeaten run with a statement 51-40 win over Makindye Weyonje.
The table leaders (NIC) started the first quarter of the match with their usual attacking intensity and could have been 3 or 4 goals up within the opening minute had it not been for a combination of poor and unlucky finishing before Oyella Stella opened the scoring with two unanswered goals before Weyonje pulled one back.
The intensity of the game increased as time kept running with each side giving the opponents a good run for their money but Oyella Stella and her team mates took full control of the game and scored more goals than their opponents in every quarter of the match.
Weyonje kept the score fairly tight within each quarter but the quality NIC’s attack, featuring the effective Oyella Stella, ultimately tilted the contest in their favour.
In a close encounter, Oyella’s 39 goals plus more other goals from Nantumbwe, inspired NIC to win the first (14-10), second (13-8), third (10-9) and fourth quarter (14-13) to make it five-out-of-five and condemn Weyonje to their first defeat of the season.

The third tie of the day at Nakivubo Blue on Saturday saw fifth placed KBK (by then) fighting it out with bottom placed UPDF.
KBK were hoping to build on their 38-37 victory over Posta in their last match but UPDF had other plans following a 63-42 defeat in their last match at the hands of high-flying Police Netball Club
The army side started the first quarter of the match with an attacking intensity KBK completely failed to neutralise and Agnes Kajumba’s impressive player of the match performance in all the quarters of the game inspired UPDF to a convincing victory (54-31) over KBK after outscoring them in all the quarters of the game to register their first victory of the season (1st Quarter KBK 5-14 UPDF, 2nd quarter KBK 8-16 UPDF, 3rd quarter KBK 8-10 UPDF and the last quarter KBK 10-14 UPDF.
