🇺🇬U20 Women’s National football team upbeat ahead of U20 World Cup qualifier against South Africa

Uganda U-20 Women’s National football team is confident of registering positive results when they play visitors South Africa on Friday at the St. Mary’s Stadium , Kitende in the first leg of the third round of the FIFA 2022 U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
Speaking to the Media during the pre-match press cconference at mengo, Uganda U-20 Women’s National football team Head Ayub Khalifa said he is unbowed ahead of the match and indicated that the team is in perfect shape to face South Africa and they are optimistic of a good result that will earn his side an advantage going into the return leg that will be played away from home.
“I believe we have had enough time to prepare and get ready for this game. We have tried to address our weaknesses and I’m confident we shall get a good result,”
”We faced them (South Africa) at COSAFA U17 Championship two years ago and we have tried to make analysis of the challenge they gave us back then.Some of the players who were in their U17 team that we played at COSAFA in 2019 have since graduated to the U20 side,”
”I know they are a good side but we have the ability to overcome them and I think we shall try to replicate what we applied back then,”
“We want to win at home because that gives us advantage going into the return leg. The players have been prepared well and we hope that they execute the plan made” - Uganda U-20 Women’s National football team Head Ayub Khalifa.
On the other hand , Fauzia Najjemba ,the Uganda U-20 Women’s National football team captain who was the top scorer at CECAFA U20 Women’s Championship is also confident of a better outing against South Africa on Friday despite her team’s failure to win the CECAFA U20 Women’s Championship .
“After the loss to Ethiopia in the CECAFA CHampionship ,our focus now turns to the World Cup Qualifiers,”
“We were disappointed not to lift the CECAFA title but that is behind us. We have tried to work on our mindset, getting back to our best and all the focus is to make sure we win tomorrow,”
“We have moved away from the CECAFA experience. I know many Ugandans have a lot of faith in this team and we can only repay that belief by winning. For starters , Africa as a continent will have two representatives at the final of the Fifa U20 Women’s World Cup that will be held in Costa Rica in 2022.
The tournament, staged every two years, will see sixteen nations compete against each other for top honours. With continental qualification pathways leading to an exciting finals event, the competition has seen four past champions: USA, Germany, Japan and Korea DPR. Japan are the defending champions, having won their first title in 2018.
