The Uganda U20 Women’s National Football Team has kick-started preparations for the forthcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier matches against Ghana.
The team made its return to the practice field for the first training session at the Mtn Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday morning in preparation for the first and second leg against Ghana and head coach Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi expressed his confidence and desire to utilize the available time to fine tune the team before the first and second leg matches against Ghana.

“We have today started our preparations for the matches against Ghana. The girls came back in good shape. I believe the time we have between now and the first game will be enough for us to prepare and get the results we want,” - Ayub Khalifa said after the team's first training session at Mtn Omondi Stadium, Lugogo

The two African sides will square off at the fourth qualification round of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers with the first leg scheduled for 22nd January 2022 at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende while the return leg will come in a fortnight’s time in Ghana.
The winner on aggregate will advance to the final qualifying phase and will face either Ethiopia or Tanzania at the final qualifying phase to the coveted tournament that will be hosted in Costa Rica later this year.

Meanwhile, prior to Thursday’s training session at Lugogo, a provisional squad of 28 players was named by Ayub Khalifa to embark on preparations for the matches against Ghana and the team is currently in a residential camp at Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi.
