
Former Uganda cranes midfielder Tonny Mawejje has on Saturday 21st May 2022 officially bid adieu to his football career after Police fc’s 5-0 defeat at the hands of champions Vipers SC at St.Mary’s Stadium in their final match of the 2021-22 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign.
The midfielder who started his career with now defunct Masaka LC in the early 2000s and later played for KCCA, URA and Police FC (twice) was a main stay in the Uganda Cranes fold for the past 15 years which saw him make 83 appearances and managed to score 8 goals.
As a player , Mawejje helped a less fancied Police win the Cecafa Kagame Cup in 2016.He also won a league title with Uganda Revenue Authority football club and a couple of CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup titles with the Uganda Cranes.
Mawejje also had stints in Iceland with IBV Vestmannaeyjar, Haugesund in Norway, Throttur, KF Tirana in Albania and a short stint in South Africa and Kuwait with Golden Arrows and Al Arabi SC respectively.
