
There is a new football sheriff in the town after Amus College School claimed their maiden Fresh Dairy Secondary Schools Girls’ football Championship title following a 1-0 win over reigning champions St. Noa Girls Zana in a final staged at Kakyeka Stadium in Mbarara City on Monday 15th May, 2023.
The Bukedea based school has defied the odds and finally encrypted its name on the winners’ list after defeating reigning champions St. Noa Girls Zana.
The showpiece was heading for a penalty shoot-out and Amus College School earned a 70th-minute free kick near St. Noa’s goal . Up stepped Opisa Shayline and she made no mistake as the Bukedea based school became champions of the Fresh Diary Secondary School Football Girls’ Championship for the first time in their history.
Under the stewardship of veteran tactician Frank ‘Video’ Anyau, Amus College School had a long route to the final after going through grueling quarter-final and semi-final encounters against record champions Kawempe Muslim SS and Mukono Parents High School respectively.

Both encounters ended in a shoot out victories for Frank Video Anyau’s charges, winning 10-9 and 4-2 over the all time Champions Kawempe Muslim SS and high-flying debutants Mukono Parents High School in the quarter-final and semifinal respectively. to set up a mouth watering tie with St. Noa Girls Zana in the final.
On the other hand, it was a disappointing end to the tournament for Jimmy Mukubya’s side (St. Noa Girls Zana) , which brushed aside Sacred Heart SS Gulu (2-0) and Rines SS (2-0) in the quarter-final and semifinal respectively to reach its third consecutive final.
This is St. Noa Girls Zana’s second loss in the final of the competition having lost their maiden final to record champions Kawempe Muslim SS on penalties (4-3) following a goalless draw in the normal time in the final of the 2019 edition of the Fresh Diary Secondary School Football Girls Championship held in Mbale
