
In a heart-pounding 34-minute slugfest, Yudaya Nakayenze threw a curveball in the 35th minute, slamming the ball into the net off Samalie Nakachwa’s killer corner kick. That move was a real game-changer, laying the foundation for their total domination.
In the thick of the brawl, Nakayenze flirted with doubling Kawempe’s score, but her shot had a tender moment with the post, only to be swatted away by Makerere University’s goalie, Sharifah Kitali, who pulled off a slick double save, putting the brakes on the valley warriors. As the first half wrapped up, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC was lounging with a cushy lead.
In the 48th minute, Yudaya Nakayenze turned up the heat, doubling Kawempe’s lead with a powerhouse shot. Makerere University’s custodian, Sharifah Kitali, tried to pull a rabbit out of the hat in goal, but her efforts fell short. The scoreboard was now vibing to Kawempe’s sweet victory tune.
Makerere pulled off a resurrection act in the 84th minute, courtesy of Sharon Namatovu’s slick back-heel finish, before Daphine Nalubowa leveled the playing field for Makerere University with a well-taken free kick following a foul by Samalie Nakachwa on Sharon Namatovu, completing their epic comeback.
Despite the draw, the valley warriors have extended their reign atop the FUFA Women Super League table with 14 points from 6 games. They sit above second-placed Kampala Queens by a slim one-point margin.
In their next league showdown, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC will be making a short pilgrimage to Kampala Quality Playground for a face-off against Asubo Ladies.This draw result solidifies Kawempe Muslim’s position at the summit of the FUFA Women Super League table.
