Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC returned to winning ways on Wednesday, securing a 3-0 victory against Lady Doves in the FUFA Women Super League.

In a nail-biting, end-to-end showdown, Ayub Khalifah’s crew thought they had the breakthrough in the 28th minute when Rhoda Nanziri’s shot got a lucky deflection past Lady Doves’ keeper, but the ref signaled to play on, and the ball was booted out by a Lady Doves defender.

Kawempe seized the lead in the 32nd minute, courtesy of Samalie Nakachwa’s spot-on free-kick after Lady Doves’ custodian Rose Bamaniriza handled the ball outside the eight-yard box.

Just 2 minutes later, Lady Doves nearly leveled the score, but Norah Alupo’s slip gave Adeke an easy catch following Jolly Kobusingye’s defensive lapse.

Mary Kabaculezi extended Kawempe’s lead in the 39th minute with a stellar left-footed finish, dancing past two Lady Doves defenders.

Hadijah Nandago came close to making it three for Kawempe from Jolly Kobusingye’s well-placed corner kick, but her attempt was thwarted and headed wide by a Lady Doves defender.

Lady Doves made a tactical substitution in the 37th minute, making way for a new player, and the first half concluded with a 2-0 lead for the valley warriors.

After halftime, Lady Doves returned with determination, launching a long-range shot from the center, but it sailed far from Kawempe’s goal.

Despite several substitutions, Lady Doves relentlessly pressed to pull one back, but Kawempe stood firm, aiming for a second consecutive clean sheet.

Agnes Nabukenya came close to making it three for Kawempe in the 83rd minute directly from a corner, but her attempt was punched away by Lady Doves’ custodian Rose Bamaniriza.

In the 86th and 90th minutes, Kawempe’s technical team introduced Babirye Hadijah and Allen Nassazi, substituting Rhoda Nanziri and Yudaya Nakyenze, to reinforce the midfield and striking line respectively.

In the added minutes, Hadijjah Nandago sealed the deal for Kawempe with a left-footed strike past Rose Bamaniriza, securing Kawempe’s victory and a triumphant return to winning ways.

The valley warriors were eager to turn the tables and get back in the game after losing points in their recent clashes with Makerere University (2-2) and Asubo Ladies FC (0-0). The win propelled Kawempe back to the summit with 18 points, a two-point lead over second-placed Kampala Queens, and a comfortable six-point gap ahead of She Maroons in third.
