Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi and his U20 Women’s National Football Team were unable to win their first practice match as they continue with their preparations for the forthcoming FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier matches against South Africa due next month, losing 2-1 albeit to a much older side, She Corporate Women Football Club in a game played at the MTN Omondi Stadium ,Lugogo on Tuesday, 23rd November, 2021.
Left back Sumaya Komuntale opened the scoring and gave the U20 Women’s National Football Team the lead in the 42nd minute before Favour Nambatya and Phiona Nabumba scored for She Corporate in the 50th and 80th minutes respectively.
However , it is not all doom and gloom for the U20 Women’s side according to their Head coach Ayub Khalifa though he might have a hard time persuading fans and critics alike to take such a generous view after his side’s 2-1 loss to She Corporate as they get ready to take on South Africa.
‘'It was a great game of character ,the first half was excellent and we led 1-0.- Ayub Khalifa noted
The practice match also gave chance to the Uganda U20 Women’s National Football Team Head coach , Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi to try out different line-ups – one in the first half, another in the second to guage the level of readiness; fitness wise and tactically for all the players in camp at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisaasi.
‘'I changed the entire team to test the other players. Unfortunately, we lost. We shall improve upon the grey areas urgently''- Ayub Khalifa said after the practice match
