
Uganda Cranes edged hosts Tanzania (1-0) in the first leg of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Second Round Qualifiers played on Sunday 28th August , 2022 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salam.
Travis Mutyaba’s 87th minute strike after coming off the, bench was all Milutin Sredojevic’s side required to claim the much desired first leg victory over Tanzania’s Taifa Stars ahead of the second leg that will be played on 3rd September 2022 at the St. Mary’s Stadium,Kitende (Uganda).

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Tanzania will qualify for the final tournament slated for January next year in Algeria
Meanwhile, the first leg victory increased Uganda’s chances of qualifying for the finals for the sixth time and hold the record for most appearances for the competition along with DR Congo despite stopping at the group stages at every edition.
