The Caf Champions League preliminary round clash at St.Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday 28th 2020 will see home team Vipers SC welcome opponents Al Hilal, a game the Venoms vividly know that a comfortable home victory will give them the impetus to go further in the biggest club football showpiece in Africa ahead of their trip to Sudan next week for the return leg.
Since a losing effort in their last game in Caf Champions League at St.Mary’s Stadium Kitende against CS Constantine (2-0) at the qualifying round, Vipers and their fans will hope to get a better result this time round.
A series of very capable performances from the Viper’s defence in the preliminary round of Caf Champions League has seen their ‘goals against’ tally standing at 1 from their previous four outings combined whilst during the same time, their own attack force has managed to score 5.
This game is going to be Vipers’ first competitive game in over eight months since their 1-1 stalemate with Wakiso Giants back in March before sports activities were suspended due to the outbreak of the deadly COVID19 pandemic however, there is hardly no excuse for Kajoba’s side despite lack of competitive games as a result of the delay in resumption of the domestic league.
On the other hand, Al Hilal buoyed by their previous results and experience in Caf competitions, will be hoping for a positive outcome versus an inexperienced Viper’s side in the continental biggest football showpiece for the clubs but it will be both an exciting and challenging moment for both Viper’s and Al Hilal’s tacticians.
Vipers Team News:
It doesn’t get much better regarding selection, without any fitness concern for the Viper’s head coach Fred Kajoba to contend with thanks to a full-strength squad.
However Aziz Kayondo, Richard Basangwa, Najib Yiga and Joseph Data will miss out since they’re in Tanzania on national duty in the CECAFA U-20 AFCON Zonal Qualifiers Qualifiers with Uganda Hippos and South Sudan U-20 respectively.
